Walter J. Schibli, CA

Walter J. Schibli, C.A.

Walter has over 30 years of experience in public practice with a strong emphasis on corporate taxation, utilization of trusts and personal tax planning.

Walter articled with Peat Marwick Mitchell, predecessor to KPMG, in Victoria and, upon earning his Chartered Accountant designation, transferred to the company's Zurich offices until 1974. Walter began his own practice in 1976 and has an extensive list of clients in the hospitality and food and beverage industries.

Walter is father to three children living in Victoria, London, ON, and New York. He has five grandchildren. He enjoys skiing and the outdoors.

Alexander (Sandy) Stedman, B.Com., C.A.

Alexander (Sandy) Stedman, B.Com., C.A.

Sandy is a dedicated scholar and teacher in all aspects of taxation. His practice focuses on accounting and tax advice for groups of privately held companies and their shareholders.

Sandy joined Schibli Stedman King in 1996 after spending several years acting as internal auditor for a large public company and controllership for a group of privately held companies. He has been a member of the Communications and the Practice Review and Licensing committees at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C., and has been a member of the Tax Professional Development Committee at the institute since 2001. Sandy is an author for taxation courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and the Chartered Accountants Provincial Committee for Ongoing Education. He is also an instructor for taxation courses for the B.C. and Manitoba Institutes of Chartered Accountants. Sandy graduated with a BCom from UBC in 1984.

Sandy is married and has three children, all of whom are now attending university. Sandy has been a member of the SMUS Finance committee since 2003 and has served on the Board of Governors as Treasurer since 2008. When enjoying some downtime, Sandy spends time indulging in his hobbies in photography, exploring the outdoors, skiing and traveling.

Brian W. King, B.A., C.A.

Brian has been a partner in with Schibli Stedman King since 1998 and has over twenty years experience providing tax, estate planning and practical financial advice to private businesses and their owner/managers.

He articled with a mid-sized regional chartered accounting firm in Vancouver and attained his C.A. designation in 1989. Brian put his training to work immediately in London, England, in the assurance and business advisory services for a UK-affiliated chartered accounting firm.

Brian was born and raised in Vancouver. After graduating with honours from the University of Western Ontario in 1983, Brian spent a year traveling Europe and the Middle East by bicycle.

Outside of the office, Brian plays hockey and skis in the winter, and enjoys kayaking and cycling in the summer. Brian is a dedicated family man with two teenage sons.

Sean C. Twamley, C.A.

Sean C. Twamley, C.A.

Sean was granted his professional designation in 1997 after articling with a Victoria charted accounting firm. Over the past 12 years, Sean has specialized in providing tax and accounting advice to private businesses and their owner/managers.

Sean was born in Vancouver and raised in Vernon by parents from Ireland and England. He graduated from the University of Victoria 1994 with a double major in Economics and Political Science. Sean was on the Metchosin Volunteer fire department for three years.

Sean has two young children and dedicates as much time as possible to his family. When enjoying a break, Sean hits the slopes in the winter months and restores cars year round.

Chad Linger, C.A. MPAcc.

Chad joined Schibli Stedman King in 2007 after obtaining his professional designation in 2007 while articling with KPMG in Victoria. His primary focus is on accounting and tax services for owner-managed companies and their shareholders. Chad has an entrepreneurial background, being involved in a local family-run retail business.

Chad was born in Alberta before moving to the west coast in the mid 90’s. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria in 2004 and a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan in 2006. Chad has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth tax course Part I and is in the process of completing Part II.

Chad is married and when he has down time he enjoys traveling, playing hockey, the outdoors and working on their house.

Tristan Story, C.A.

Tristan Story, C.A.

Tristan joined Schibli Stedman King in 2008 and specializes in helping owner-managed companies. He has a focus on tax planning, including reorganizations, estate planning, the use of trusts and cross border issues.

Tristan obtained his C.A. designation in 2006 after obtaining his Bachelor of Technology in Accounting from BCIT. He articled with a local mid-sized accounting firm in Vancouver before joining the tax group at Ernst & Young in downtown Vancouver for three years. His background includes experience in tax accounting, international taxation, transfer pricing and transaction tax. Tristan also has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth tax course Part I, II and III.

Tristan enjoys teaching and has facilitated for Chartered Accounting School of Business, as well as taught part-time courses at BCIT and has authored and taught a course for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC.

Tristan was born and raised in Vancouver before moving to Victoria with his wife in 2008. When he has the time, Tristan enjoys running, cycling, squash and most team sports.
